How well do your print ads drive website traffic?

(News from the mobile)

Readers,

Recently a client of ours sent out a large print based distro with one of the main Call-to-actions being "please visit our website for more information". After wards they asked me how much traffic came from that mailing?

There are a few things to remember before launching a print based ad:

  1. Design a new specific web page that you send visitors to so when you look at your website analytics you will be able to see how many hits that individual page received.
  2. Setup a customized email address so all questions/leads will flow through that email address.
  3. Prepare for poor tracking results.
  4. In your contact information on the print media place an actual contacts name, email, and direct phone number. Typically more people will contact a person over a general mailbox.
  5. Lastly, if possible develop a short email based advertisement that mirrors the same message and actions plans. If you do not get the response rate expected you can always send out the email campaign in parallel with the print ad and try to make up the most leads.

Conclusion: Try to plan out for the worst tracking results and tactics you can follow to minimize lost statistics.
